Reviews of Gina’s Live Events
“Every truly good speaker is first a good thinker. Gina Birkemeier is the personification of this idea. After hearing her unfold her story and thoughts over meals and moments, we invited her to share with one of our live classes.
Her mix of personal story, meaningful psychology and well thought out thought process kept our people enthralled all evening.
If you want to provoke your audience to learn and grow, I would invite Gina.”
— Bob Hamp, LMFT, International Speaker & Author of the Think Differently Series
“Gina does a great job unpacking and exploring how the “sins of the father” impact future generations. She expertly weaves together how people’s understanding of themselves, relationships and the world are impacted by both what they overtly learned and experienced from their families, and also how the experiences of earlier generations are passed on to them via the transgenerational epigenetic inheritance process. Her work helps the reader discover how genetic studies, psychological research and Scripture come together to form an integrated understanding of factors contributing to how people become who they are, and how they can begin to repair the injuries they experienced and inherited.”
— Bill Buhrow, Psy.D. President, CAPS International
“Gina’s training as a therapist combined with her warm smile, intense curiosity, assertive personality, and thorough preparation made her an ideal fit to provide DBT training to our staff.
Her presentation was informative and has our staff looking forward to hearing about her new book “Generations Deep” and its impact on our therapeutic approach.”
— Randy McClaren, MA, LPC, NCC – Co-Director, Generations Counseling Centers
“Our church had the pleasure of hearing Gina speak during our Sunday morning worship gathering. I asked Gina to speak because she is a trusted and compassionate voice in her field; we knew she would have insight and wisdom to offer from her own experience and education, and she absolutely blew us away. She taught about the connection between the heart and the brain and then led us through an exercise in gratitude. It was an incredible Sunday morning experience for our congregation. People left with a deeper understanding of themselves, more compassion for both themselves and others, and a deeper sense of God’s love and provision over their lives. There were no gimmicks or fluff; every word and every aspect of the exercise was purposeful and compelling. People have been asking for and looking forward to the next time she comes to teach.”

“Gina Birkemeier's presentation to our group of counselors on her Generations Deep book was fascinating and very helpful in our work with clients as well as in gaining insights into our own personal lives and relationships. Gina is an excellent speaker, articulate and interesting. Her research on epigenetics, coupled with her personal story of generational issues and relationships, was both educational and very moving. The resources she shared with us, along with the interactive sections of her book, have given us opportunities to share this information with our clients and help them process through their own generational and relational issues. In addition, our counselors were able to experience new insights into their own lives and situations. We all greatly appreciated Gina and all that she shared with us!”

“Gina’s presentation on epigenetic/intergenerational transmission of trauma was the best I’ve ever heard! I appreciate how she weaves God’s love throughout her talk. Intergenerational transmission of trauma in the wider context of collective, cultural, and historical trauma are my areas of research interest, so I found Gina’s presentation extremely helpful.”

Podcast Reviews
Independent Press Award podcast: “The interview is extremely informative, with excellent suggestions for changing unhelpful and unhealthy behaviors. Gina's story began with her grandparents, but even today at school, many children experience shootings, abuse and bullying, as well as other events that leave them traumatized. I have heard it said that "children bounce back." But you can look at adults and see that's not true. People carry trauma with them and they develop behaviors that "cover" themselves. In healing ministry, many adults come for inner healing to cleanse themselves of events that happened in their past. Birkemeier's book helps those who are ready to stop and think about what they need and she offers them a way to make a change. She enables her reader to cleanse their hearts so they can open their hearts to God's love.”
— Judy Kelly, author of The Attractiveness of Wisdom
“It was so insightful listening to Gina Birkemeier LPC speak about her book "Generations Deep: Unmasking Inherited Dysfunction and Trauma to Rewrite Our Stories Through Faith and Therapy to Gabby, and how she overcame trauma. Gina reminds us that healed people help heal people. She talks about transforming our pain, breaking the cycle and retaining positive traits from past generations: knowledge and action equals change.”
— Hélène Cardona, poet, editor, translator
“I just listened to both episodes of Gabby's podcasts, interviews of authors Gina Birkemeier and Nati del Paso. Both books, "Generations Deep" and "Women of Fire and Snow" would be great books for my daughter who is studying psychology at Purdue University and planning a graduate degree in family counseling. Both books have a counseling theme and have very good reviews, as well as winning awards with Independent Press Awards.
The interviews were very professional, and the authors were both very well spoken while describing their respective books. Thanks for sharing the podcast links in your email.”
— Michael Eisenhut, author of Brothers Of War, The Iron Brigade At Gettysburgs
“The author has a compelling conversation on several areas: generational dysfunctions, breaking the cycle of domino behavior traits, healing from traumatic experiences, inner work to heal with therapist assistance and manifestation into our true identity in living our best healed self. The podcast was very informative and a therapy session in itself on essential levels of becoming and transforming your life in living authentically. A captivating and touching life story.”
